Poetry: Pretending

by John McDevitt

Created on: April 23, 2009

they laughed
mocking
her honest garb
pretending

Dour
they frowned
ridiculing
her good nature
pretending

Callous
they spat
resenting
her warm heart
pretending
they cared

Ruthless
they struck
exploiting
her generous spirit
pretending
they cared

Shocked
they watched
fearing
her blazing truth
pretending?
not her
