Colorado Springs Epitomizes America the Beautiful

Standing atop of Pikes Peak mountain, Katherine Lee Bates did a slow circle turn and feasted her eyes upon a bustling turn-of-the-century hamlet known as Colorado Springs, Co. The sun, majesty and beauty of this valley area set her heart afire and she wrote a love poem to the United States entitled "America the Beautiful."
