When the World Wide Web began, like any other innovation, it was greeted with outright cynicism. Most people felt that the internet would only have a limited success. Now, those same people have been forced to eat their words. These days, the internet is so important that most people simply cannot live without it.

Below are some internet sites you couldn't live without and the reasons for this assertion.

1. WWW.Google.com:

This is probably the most important site in the world when it comes to knowledge and information. Whatever you want to know, all you have to do is Google it and you have the information in full and from different sources.

2. WWW.Yahoo.com:

On the average day, over two billion people use yahoo in one form of the other. When it comes to sending and receiving emails, most people cannot do without yahoo.com. It is easily one site that most people simply cannot live without.

3. PayPal.com:

This is one site that has changed the face of online money transfer for good. As long as you have a computer and an email address, you can send and receive money in most countries of the world via paypal. It is hard to imagine how people survived before the advent of paypal.com.

4. Helium.com:

This site is ample evidence that it is not how long you have been at it that matters. What matters is how well you are doing in your chosen business. Helium began just a few years ago. Now, it is one of the best online writing sites on planet earth. Helium is the largest community of writers in the world. It is also one of the most writer-friendly sites ever. Starred writers are paid upfront per article submitted. All writers also received ad revenue. There are also writing contests and the marketplace where you can get between 20 to 200 dollars per article. Speaking for myself, I simply can't live without helium.

5. Ebay.com:

This is the site for buying and selling. It is also a great site to make money from. On eBay, you can place bids for any item you want to buy and you can usually get very good prices too. It is a great site where buyers and sellers meet and carry out online transactions.

6. Amazon.com:

If you love good books, this site is tailor made for you. You can find any book that you seek on this site. Apart from shopping for books, amazon.com is also great for you as a writer. This site can help you market and promote your books. For this reason, a number of reputable writers cannot figure out how they were able to survive in the past without amazon.com.

7. Social Networking Sites:

Here, we are referring to sites like linkedIn.com, facebook.com and a host of others. These are great sites too in the sense that they help promote your online presence.

Let's face it, for most people, life without the internet is very hard to imagine these days. As the internet continues to grow, the sites discussed above and some other valuable sites will continue to remain a vital aspect of everyday life.
