membership. At $49.99 for a year that averages out to under $5 a month, definitely worth it. The game library for the Xbox 360 is superior to any next gen console out with exclusive hits such as Halo 3, Gears of War 1 and 2, Dead or Alive 4, Fable 2, and the downloadable The Lost and the Damned add on for Grand Theft Auto 4.

As for hardware, the 360 is on par with the PS3 graphic wise, is backwards compatible, has 3 usb ports, Ethernet input, HDMI, 2 memory card slots and an infrared sensor for wireless gaming. The biggest drawback to the console is the dreaded "red ring of death". I myself have gone through 3 consoles since my first one in early 2006, each one succumbing to the rrod. Microsoft does not charge to fix the rrod problem, but if freezing occurs, which is typical before experiencing the rrod then you are charged $100 if not under warranty. AND they no longer send a box and pay for shipping, but instead make you do all of the grunt work. Nevertheless the newer consoles have a much smaller power source with "breathing" holes and a 2 prong cord instead of 3, costing me no problems yet. All in all, if you are looking for excellent online service and superb gaming titles to choose from all running in HD on one of the most powerful consoles ever, then look no further than the Xbox 360.
