I have been a Mylot member for about two and a half years now. I am active there at the moment although I have never been paid even once from the site yet. Let me share with you why.
I started with this website when I had more time on my hands. I had few writing assignments from my editors back then so I spent most of my free time finding ways to earn online. (It was unfortunate that I didn't discover Helium much earlier.) When I read about Mylot from one of the blogs I was browsing, I became curious enough to try and sign up.
I found out that I enjoyed joining discussions about things that do interest me. Sadly, the earnings were low and slow. I assumed that we get paid $0.01 minimum for each post we make since I barely made $0.05 to 0.20 a day there even when I have been posting long replies to various topics.
After about three or four months with just around $3.00 to show for my efforts, needless to say, I got tired and a little frustrated so I decided to lay low for a while. By then, I was already busy with work and the real world as my freelance writing gigs were picking up.
Around the middle of last year, I got started on GPT (get-paid-to) sites. I found out that I can click for cents while I'm researching for my article assignments or checking emails. Not much effort required, really. It was only then that I remembered to check up on Mylot again.
I was disappointed, to say the least, to find out that my pitiful earnings went back to zero after not having logged in for several months. I just can't understand the site's policy of taking away a member's earnings and yet retaining the membership to allow an inactive member to log in again, only to find out that his/her balance has gone back to zilch. But, since many Mylot members were dishing out good tips about GPT earning, I started becoming more or less active again on the site.
Now, nearly a year later, I have just about $7.00 on my account ... still a small amount which I need to raise to $10.00 to be able to cash out for the first time. Thing is, I don't log in there everyday just to create discussions or post to topics indiscriminately (like others seem to be doing) just to make a quick buck.
I refuse to be caught up in the "it's-almost-the-end-of-the-month!" frenzy when members post like crazy to reach $10.00 before the cutoff period. I only visit whenever I want to, when I have the extra time, or when I want to find out the latest news about certain GPT sites. I just make sure I log in at least every two weeks or so to not be considered inactive again.
If you are planning to join this site, I would advise that you become a member with the aim of finding online friends you can discuss topics with that are of interest to you. Don't become a Mylot member if you're just after the money because you will be sorely disappointed at the rate your earnings will rise. Unless you're ready to spend 10 hours or more a day posting whatever comes to your mind just to earn a dollar.
Well, to each his/her own. I'm just saying that kind of (no) life is not for me. I prefer spreading my time among other endeavors that I feel are more worth my while.
