Whether you are ready or not, Samantha Madison is back.
But if you happen not to know who Samantha Madison is, then most likely you haven't read the All American Girl book yet. It's about a girl who had saved the president of the United States from an attempted assassination. Ready or Not is the sequel of the said book. But if you'd actually think that this is an action-packed book, then, you've got it all wrong. No, this is not a thriller book either. If you happen to know Meg Cabot, then you'd definitely know that she writes for teen novels. And in this book, Samantha is still a high-school student and I don't think she had ever taken some martial-arts lesson to begin. So how did she manage to save the president? Let's say, she really has nice reflexes and her instinct was right on the spot, so she managed to stop a man from shooting the president.
So finally, she is now back and now that she is popular world-wide because of that "heroic" incident, it seems like life is still not as good as she wants it to be. One, her boyfriend (which happens to be the president's son) seems like he wants to take their relationship to the NEXT level and she...she's not sure if she is ready or not. Two, she's also taking her art classes to the next level and that means she has to paint real people and that includes people with or with-out clothes. And she is not sure if she is ready or not to look at or paint those er - - - naked men.
I loved the first book a lot so when I found out that there's a sequel on it, I was actually excited to read it as well. I want to know what are the escapades of Samantha this time. However, I was disappointed when I read this second installment. I loved the Sam in the first book, in the second book, I'm close to hating her. The whole time, Sam was like ranting and freaking out over the same thing: whether she or her boyfriend David should have sex or not. Maybe Meg Cabot knows that sex is definitely one of the issues that a teenage have to deal with. But she failed in giving her readers the best picture on how to deal with it.
As a whole, I still manage to laugh while reading, but not the way book one had made my stomach ache from laughing. I love Sam, the red-headed girl who didn't mind dodging a bullet for somebody's life. Samantha is a brilliant character, but I think I would opt to remember Samantha Madison the way she was described in book one.
