His body was anesthetized
By his wandering mind
To a place the molesting
Hands would not find
When he awoke from blankness
He felt only physical pain
In places where he was violated
Over and over again
Next time he retreated further
And hoped never to return
The little boy was lost
No one showed concern
He transformed into beast
Wild and untamed
Caged and beaten
Until nothing remained
Then a woman offered compassion
To coax him from his cage
He fought but she did not move
And loved him of his hopeless rage

Poetry: Compassion
A Clump Of Clay
I'm nothing but a clump of clay,
I wait to be molded by God's hands.
My shape and gender is known only by
As he approached his local convenience store
He noticed a tattered man sitting by the door
Can you spare some change is what
Bittersweet Symphony
I really hated you when I first met you
I felt like you were lying to everyone around
Seeing you smile
Compassion beams outward to me - flowing
From your bosom there bestowing
Rivers of love from your piercing eyes
Of tender
For Haiti...
Spirit of compassion
may your gracious caring hands
touch the lives of those in need
upon our troubled lands
