Poetry: Stars

Every night I gaze up at the stars

Looking with wonder at Venus and Mars

"Are we the only ones here?" I ask out loud

No answer. Only an occasional clap from a cloud.

Far away lies Alpha Centouri.

There may be people just like you and me.

Two suns, one yellow and the other blue.

Orbiting planets, some may be class M2.

I think that I must go there one day

But who knows, they could be already on there way

To our planet Earth, place of my birth

Together we will make great mirth

What would it be like to have to suns in the sky?

I expect the universal laws of Physics still apply.

Are they wondering about us too?

What we think, say, or do?

Alas, the stars twinkle a last goodbye

Before dawn breaks across the sky.

Night owls have gone to bed and so must I.

I'll dream of the faraway worlds around the stars up high.
