Respecting religion and spirituality in a very diverse world

There are more notions about our existence than anyone can imagine, from fully completed ideas of an afterlife or reincarnation to the minor differences each person has. If any two people share the EXACT same ideals it's extremely rare. Religion is the most important thing to a person. Why are we here? What am I supposed to do?

If everyone could agree to respect each other's views enough to not hate or insult each other we would take one of a few different paths to paradise on Earth.

What may surprise many people is that we aren't really that much different. There are a lot of differences that can be overlooked. Most if not all religions are dedicated to making the world and the people in it safer or stronger. For the most part, religions share common goals. Whatever you refer to the 'Great Spirit' as, a main point is to show gratitude and respect to the creator. Unerringly, the religion dictates that you are to follow the code of the Great Spirit, which prohibits us from making self-destructive mistakes or causing problems for others.

Worship the Great Spirit.

Respect everyone and show humility.

Assist in sustaining everyone in the world and the world itself.

By following these three rules you will be following the laws of nearly every religion out there. It's very easy for a person to ridicule an idea they either don't understand or a way of doing things that the person feels is wrong. If you keep the thought in your mind, "I will respect everyone's ideas" you can control yourself easily. These three rules certainly won't cover EVERY religion- there are too many variations! These rules will keep your focus on doing the right thing, though, and who can argue with these three principles? Respect everyone covers all the bases as far as not harming anyone- you wouldn't hurt someone in any way, verbally or physically, that you respected! Almost all religions have the same idea about having one grand spirit that watches over all that has been created, but you cannot forget that some beliefs involve more than one.

It's agonizing to see how close we could be to achieving peace on Earth or at least taking a huge step toward it.

The thing that puts us further away from that goal (unity) is that there are also beliefs that attack certain types of behaviour that could be considered to be following these rules. Perhaps two people get together and decide to ...ahem...couple in a way they both feel is perfectly fine, but another person realizes this and decides that it is wrong
