Hair coloring tips for men
Tip number one- Remember, there's nothing embarrassing about dying your hair whether you're male or female.
Tip number two- Put on the plastic gloves that come in the box.
Tip number three- Put the bottle of color into the other bottle. Cut the tip off the other bottle, or take off the cap, before screwing it back on.
Tip number four- Remember to cover the tip with your finger while you shake the bottle. Make sure that it is thoroughly mixed. If it's not mixed it could result in a bad dye job.
Tip number five- Start applying the mix at the roots. Go from one side of your head to the other just doing your roots. Apply it like caulk if you have to. Start at the front hair line and run it all the way to the nape of your neck in lines or strips. Then rub it around a little to cover all the roots evenly.
Tip number six- Take the bottle and apply it to the rest of your hair while rubbing it into the strands. The hair likes to clump and sometimes the hair in the middle of the clump doesn't get any dye which can leave you with awful streaks. Make sure you cover every hair, including behind the ears and the base of the neck where little stray hairs can grow.
Tip number seven- After completely covering the hair, maybe using a little extra just to be sure, throw away the bottle and left over dye. This is a time activated dye, so saving the bottle would do you no good because it becomes inactive after sitting for an hour or so. Leave the dye on your head for the time the package says.
Tip number eight- If you have other things to do around the house, you can wear a shower cap over your hair. If you feel the need to keep the blinds in the house closed that's fine. After a few minutes your head may feel funny and a little itchy. That's usually normal.
Tip number nine- When you're done waiting just jump in the shower or stick your head over the tub. Rinse until the water coming off your head is clean with no color. Sometimes the boxes of dye come with conditioner. If you have it, use it. It makes your hair really smooth.
Tip number ten- Remember to keep the bathroom well ventilated while dying your hair. The stuff is really strong and is bad to breath in. Also note that the box might say not to use the dye on your eyebrows because the dye may get into your eyes when it drips. Some people listen to this rule, others do not. That's really up to you. If you keep a towel around your shoulders it should prevent any dye from getting on your shirt, which is great because the dye can act like a bleach. I found it's best that if you're using a dark dye like red, black, or dark brown use a black towel. If you're dying your hair blond, grey, or light blond-brown use a whiter towel.
I hope these tips help the next time you dye your hair. Remember that it will grow back and it can be fixed if you don't succeed in what you're looking for. It usually looks too bold when it's still wet, but give it a chance. It could be the new you.
