Parenting well during after-work hours

to find out how everyone's day went. This is a great way to share the events of school, work and any other part of the day.

This kind of routine has many positive attributes and serves a dual purpose. Not only does it allow for good quality family time together, but it teaches responsibility too because kids learn the importance of contributing and helping. It also helps develop conversational and interaction skills.

Parenting well after work hours is not as big a challenge as you'd think. Many parents even find they are better parents when they work outside the home because they do receive variety of routine and look forward to coming home. This offsets feelings of burnout or depression that stay at home parents sometimes experience from not connecting with the outside world during the 9 to 5 hours.

One of the biggest challenges of parenting well after work hours is attitude and assuaging feelings of guilt. The best way to approach combating these feelings is to turn a negative into a positive. Your family will benefit tremendously simply from a change in perspective.

While the quantity of parenting time is a component, the quality of time will be the factor which influences how your kids are nurtured, grow and learn. Use the hours with your family as quality time and as your children develop you will see them turn into strong adults.
