"Little Miss Sunshine" is one of the few truly good movies to come out of 2006. Starring Greg Kinear(whose star is really starting to shine), Toni Collette, Alan Arkin and the 40 yr. old virgin himself, Steve Carrell. All of them portrayed the adult members of a very dysfunctinonal family. The children, actor Paul Dano(Dwayne) and Abigail Breslin(Olive) were outstanding as well. After Olive announces her chance at becoming "little miss sunshine" in a child beauty pagaent in Rodondo Beach, California, the family gets in a beat up VW bus, circa 1969, and leave Arizona for a road trip that will forever change their lives.
This isn't a comedy like the stupid, silly brand of comedies. This is a what I like to call a dark comedy. You find yourself laughing at things that wouldn't normally be funny, but they make it funny.
The story was different yet funny and interesting. If you like films about dysfunctional families and their quirks, "Little Miss Sunshine" should brighten your day.
