There are many different reasons why a couple might want to have twins. Some women only wat to go through one pregnancy so having twins gives you a full complete family all in one shot. Some women have trouble concieving, a twin pregnancy may likely be her only one. People are fascinated by twins. I always said it would be neat to have twins but I can tell you my husband almost passed out when he found out I really was pregnant with twins! Even though giving birth to twins is usually pure coincidence there are several theories to improve your chances of conceiving twins, be warned though some of these methods could result in triplets or more!

Yams=Twins! Eat Yams. Yes those ugly little orange potatoes have been found to have a link to conceiving twins. This was discovered when a middle eatern tribe of people in whose diet yams featured largely was found to have a very high amount of twin pregnancies.

Studies have shown that if you are breastfeeding your last baby when you conceive than you have increased odds of a multiple pregnancy. Scientists think that the reason for this is that while breastfeeding your body is depleted of your usual calcium supply, which affects a woman's eggs during conception and ovulation.

It has been proven that the older a woman is and the more children she has already given birth to, the more eggs are produced in each cycle. You can increase your chances of giving birth to twins by waiting longer in your life to conceive. I can attest to this one, my twins were born when I was 37 years old.

If these natural tips fail do not despair, there is still hope in finding a doctor, if you can, to prescribe a fertility drug such as Clomid for you. Some doctors will only do this if you are having trouble conceiving. Just remember there are serious risks involved with taking fertility drugs. You also increase the odds of having more babies then just twins too, ask the woman who just gave birth to octuplets.

When you have your twins, enjoy every second-you are doubly blessed! Remember when planning a multiple or twin pregnancy that this will be considered a high risk pregnancy there are added risks involved. Even though you will hear people say things like "Awww, two for the price of one", that is surely not true, it is "two for the price of two!" Make sure you are financially stable before trying to conceive twins; it is very expensive unless you end up with a reality show and have a bunch of stuff given to you.
