2009 NBA Draft preview: The top Point Guards

Basketball teams have key ingredients to win, wether it be chemisty, lebron/kobe/d-wade, a good coach, or just an all round good team. There is one thing an NBA team needs if it is even to survive in the regular season let alone a playoff. A good example is the 2008 Denver Nuggets, they took a natural shooting guard for a point guard in Allen Iverson, only to be ousted by the L.A. Lakers. A trustworthy, and reliable pointguard. Not only that but a pointguard who can run your offense, because he dreams about every play in the playbook when he goes to sleep. Of the pointguards, good and bad 5 of them can claim themselves to be the best in the league.

5. Rajon Rondo- Yes he is one of the elite point guards of today believe it or not. He has picked up his game to another level from a year ago. A young vibrant player who can sare the ball and complements the celtic's big-three like no other. Jason Kidd is debatable but he lacks one thing that Rondo as: defense. He could arguably be the second best defenseive player on this list. Even thoug Jason is extremely talented, the wear and tear of age has brougt him down. Rondo is also a talented inside scorer, and can run baseline anytime he wants to draw te defense.

4. Mo Williams- Probably the greatest trade to occur during this season. The Cavaliers got a reliable pointguard, who can boh score and lately has proven to be a potent defender. Mo Williams has been better than what anyone coulde have expected. On top of that he brings fire to the Cavaliers team, and the experience of a talented leader. He is the perfect complement to Lebron James, like Robin to Batman.

3. Chauncey Billups- Talk about a guy who has tempered his mind and skill set to be ideally the perfect pointguard who can play the position in the most authentic way. He is clutch when he needs to be, and has limitless range. A great free throw shooter, and an automatic chemistry biulder. Because of him the denver nuggets landed the 2nd spot in the western conference. A big difference from the 8th spot. Not only that his toughness, keys him up to be a great defensive player. Naturally he is one of the best leaders te NBA has.

2. Deron Williams- Much like a youner Chauncey who can run the floor better. Extreme ball handling skills, and can score anytime he wants to. He is a potent jumpshooter. Even though his defense is just a little above average, he proves to be a game changer if you count his 10.7 assists per game for 2008- 2009. Talk about the next John Stockton for the Utah Jazz.

1. Chris Paul - Obviously the greatest pointguard in the league. He is a fierce leader who isn't afraid of size at all. He manages the Hornet team with command like no other, both verbally and by example. One of the best decision makers in the game. He provides intangibles like leadership, and the ability to run an offense much like a veteran. On top of all that he is one of the most efficient players in the league. His shooting percent is 50% and he makes 20+ points a game along with 11 assists only to be countered with 2 turnovers. That is incredibly efficient especially for a pointguard. Even centers have a hard time making 50%. Ontop of that he is one of the league's best perimeter defender. He averages 1 - 2 steals a game. He is also capable of putting a team on his back, as he had done in the 2008 playoffs. Lets not forget this is only his 3rd year. There is not doubt about it Chris Paul is the best point guard there is, and someday will be the best player in the league.
