Poetry: Love affairs

by Jackie McClellan

Created on: April 22, 2009

half full.

sparkling water turns to wine
and ferments fancy in three months time
and when 'tis ready, fills the mouth
'til good behavior travels south

and dizzy spells will never tell
it's more like naughty in a shell
and fantasies are better sought
than half-fulfilled, yet never caught.

dripping, drinking, must lie down
and think to me a simple sound
of laughter's whimsy, subtle ways
can bring my innocence back for days

midnight blue, a joke or two
an empty glass I ne'er see through
for condensation clouds for days
while fingers rest and yearn to play.
