Tips for booking your ski vacations

Your eyes dart from side to side as you slip the goggles down over your face...that's right, baby, time to rock n roll! You give a nod to your partners and leap into action, the wind whipping across your face as you ride down the mountain like a bat out of hell (or a very careful bat out of Hollywood, take your pick)like your on snow-covered rails (and in fact, you are!), whooping and hollering and exhilirated by the experience. Later, after countless runs, when you're down in the lodge sipping hot cocoa, or something stronger, amongst your well-bundled, smiling friends, or back in the luxury condo whipping-up cocktails while you wait for the hot tub to, well, get hot, while someone gets dinner started. The others are getting the fireplace going or popping in the dvd that won the group vote, as the last of the Winter chill gives way to an enveloping warmth. This is what a ski vacation is supposed to be. Whether you hauled-ass road-tripping it up to the mountains with that group of characters you call friends, or took a leisurely flight to a luxury resort with your sweetie, everything falls into place beautifully, and is almost ALWAYS better than anticipated, with just a little careful planning.

When the idea for a ski vacation occurs to you, what almost always immediately follows is concern about the expense. Certainly, the expenses can add-up if you book for convenience and immediacy alone, without regards to price; however, if you're willing to do some searching, make some calls and consider what you're willing to compromise on, you just might find yourself sitting in the lap of luxury for far less than you imagined. Consider also that if you book a ski getaway with a small group of friends, spltting the cost of a multi-bedroom luxury condo with all the amenities and a game-room to boot could end up costing you lest than the price of a Motel 6 per night/per person! You need to understand just how sweet it is to be sharing some millionaire's 6 bedroom ski home with your good friends who're probably just as broke as you are, and not have the cost even put a serious dent in your bank account (think like $50-$90 dollars a night!) Just remember to run in a claim the best bedroom for you and your sweetie!
Check online for condo rental and ski-home rentals area of your chosen resort, and you will invariably find listings of local realtors providing home/cabin/condo rentals at competitive rates. Additionally, many of them provide not only photos of the properties, but video tours as well, so you can be certain you won't end-up in some tragic sitcom scenario of a crappy, unheated cabin. Remember, often the difference between staying in a nice place and an AWESOME place on your ski vacation is inviting one more friend/couple along to split the costs!
