We all come into this world with two ears, but with only one mouth. This would indicate we should all listen twice as much as we speak. In keeping your man happy, remember the most important thing that will turn him off is, to be a nag. An old proverb says, "better to dwell alone on the corner of the roof, than in a house with a woman who is contentious."

Men hate a nagging partner. Not the partner, but the nagging. Rather than communicate with him, he will shut you out, if you do not present your problem/s in a respectful way. Men appreciate being treated with respect, just like women do.

If you have something troubling to tell him, let him eat his supper and unwind a bit first. No one likes to have a problem thrown at them when they are tired from working all day and hungry besides. When he has eaten and rested a bit, he will be in a much better frame of mind to help you.

Communication is like tossing a ball back and forth. You might toss it gently or throw it like a baseball pitcher. Ask yourself, how do I play the game of communication with my mate.

If you treat your man like a king, he will treat you like a queen. Tell him he is the best thing that ever happened to you and tell him often. Genuine praise for some accomplishment on his part, should freely be given. Let him know how proud you are to be his partner in life.

One undeniable difference in males and females when it comes to problem solving is this. We are wired differently. Most women "feel" emotional and think emotionally when it comes to facing a tough problem or making a decision, while men like to "think" of solutions. By thinking and feeling our way through a problem, a good decision will be made.

Men like to be problem solvers. Anyone remember when men drive cars, they never want to ask for directions? So, when he is thinking how to solve your problem, do not think he is unfeeling. He sees your problem and is trying to help you in the best way he can.

In order to help make your man happy, surprise him sometimes. A favorite dessert, cleaning out his vehicle or if he likes sports, buy him two tickets to a special game so he can invite a buddy along. You can be sure, after the game, his mind is going to be thinking about his wonderful woman waiting at home and how loving and generous she is.

Respect the family budget. Men appreciate that, especially in these hard economical times with the ever threat of job layoffs and all. Look for ways to economize and share them with him. He will be really thankful for that. Life is hard sometimes and giving him your solid support, encouraging him that better times will come, is a great way to show him how much you value and love him.

None of us are perfect, but we can show love, kindness, respect and offer our man two listening ears when he needs them. In turn, he will do the same for you. Not only will you be helping to make your man happy, he will try to do the same for you. You know another old saying, "what goes around, comes around?"

This advice is tried and true because it was taken from interviewing a man and his wife who have been happily married for many, many years. After 65 years of marriage, he still calls her "my bride." Now, that is one happy man!
