Can you really make money online?

by Tim Rosanelli

Created on: April 21, 2009

The question isn't whether you really can make money online but if each method is worth the time invested compared to the amount earned. For each method of making money online, you must evaluate the amount of time invested and money earned than compare it how much you can earn at a fulltime job. Of course, methods that generate a passive income sources that require upfront work and generate income over long periods of time are preferable to method of income that resembles an hourly wage.

I attempted to make this a no BS guide to making money online and steer you away from the scams and drive you towards the real methods. With this in mind, I evaluate each method according to it how much money you make and if it's a viable method according to the time spend. I start with the worst methods of making money online and finish with the best methods.

Get paid programs

Get the programs are one of the worst way to make money online. These are programs, like Cashcrate, that pay you to go online and answer questions and quick links. I tried these programs and found that they are time intensive and I earned barely minimum wage type income per hour.

I noticed that these program many times will not pay out unless you fill out an offer ~ read as, sign up for a paid service. In my opinion, these appear to be thinly veiled ways to get you interested to pay for a service, not to mention the amount of junk mail you will start receiving in the mail and by e-mail.

Also, many of these get paid programs are more or less pyramid schemes of making money. In order to make good money with these programs, it's more about referring others to the program and you'll earn a portion of the work that they do. These programs were more viable a few years ago when many people flooded the Internet looking to make money and it was easy to take advantage of these new people by referring them to the program.

So, I guess if I wanted to watch daytime TV and at the same time, work on a Get Paid program it may be worth it, but I found there's many better ways to make money online.

Surveys

Performing surveys is another way to make money on the line, but it is in a very similar vein to the Get Paid programs where it is very time intensive and low amounts of money earned.
Also, these surveys seem to be another thinly veiled way for them to attract the users to spend money on the products and services that you are surveying. My advice stay far away from surveys.
