As you plan your wedding one of the details to attend to will be choosing the special song you and your new spouse will dance to for the first time as a married couple. Chances are there are many beautiful songs that are special to you and your intended.

The biggest challenge may be trying to narrow down the one perfect song that expresses your feelings for one another. With all the wonderfully written and sung songs in the world it may seem overwhelming to choose just one.

Wedding songs represent sentiments in a song to showcase to your family and friends present at your reception as you share the very special moment of your first dance together. The song chosen is significant and shouldn't be made lightly.

Here are a few tips to think about as you consider the perfect song to be played at your reception for your first dance together:

*Special Meaning

Is there a special song you had during the time you were dating? Many couples hold in special regard a song heard on a first date, or on a special date. Perhaps there was that one romantic dinner where you said your first "I love you" and there was a song playing in the background.

Maybe there is a song playing on the radio as you were proposed to. There are many possibilities of songs to choose from that may have defined a turning point in your relationship that represents the way you feel about one another.

*Timeless or Current Hit

As you consider song options you may want to go with something traditionally used as a wedding song. There are many wedding song "staples" that couples prefer to use dance to as their first spin around the dance floor as a married duo. These songs are usually timeless and never go out of style.

Either option is common. What you may want to consider avoiding is choosing some off the wall song from a couple of decades ago that isn't timeless. Not that there is anything wrong with this, but you want the song you choose to be memorable as a special dance, not the song that had all your guests scratching their heads saying "huh?"

*Analyze the Lyrics

While some songs have a beautiful melody and sound like the perfect wedding song; perhaps the song even evokes special memories from a special date together. The problem with this is sometimes the lyrics may not be touching or romantic. Many songs
