Many of us have suffered from acne at some point in our lives. Some of us were lucky enough to live through it as adolescents and others find themselves with adult acne. Treatment often seems expensive or hopeless, but it doesn't have to be either. There are many natural ways to treat acne that can make a huge difference.
Healthy Lifestyle.
As with most ailments in life a healthy lifestyle is a great place to begin. You will want a balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Limit junk food, powdered drink mixes, and sodas as well which add toxins to the body that can come out on the surface of the skin. Drinking lots of water (8-10 glasses a day) is a great idea because it helps keep the body free of toxins. Finally you should also be exercising. This can help get toxins out and is on overall healthy choice to make.
Washing Your Face.
You face should be washed at least once a day, but not more then twice. Choose a cleanser that claims it won't clog pores, is oil free or water based, is hypoallergenic, gentle, pH neutral, color free, and for sensitive skin. No matter what type of skin you have, this is more likely to give you a gentle clean. Place a small amount of product between your palms and add a little water. Lather it up and then rub it onto the skin with your palms. Your palms will help to gently brush off dead skin cells. Use your finger tips in small places like around the nose and eyes and around the edges of your face. Thoroughly rinse the product off.
Treat With Natural Products.
Research has shown that antibiotics can help get rid of acne because it helps keep bacteria out of the pores. Various antibiotics are available in harsh prescription based acne treatments, however these chemical solutions often dry the skin and can even burn it. Many plants have antibiotic properties and are available without a prescription in the form of essential oils. These things are also healthier for your skin! Echinacea, Tea Tree Oil, Basil, Golden Seal, and Burdock Root are all good for killing bacteria. You can use one or two for killing bacteria. Honey, which isn't an essential oil, is also known for being antibacterial.
In addition to those that are antibacterial there are a lot of other products that are healthy for the skin. Rosewater reduces inflammation. Geranium balances out the oily and dry portions of combination skin. Patchouli oil improves texture. Juniper and dandelion detoxifies the skin. Lavender sooths redness. Sandalwood nurishes dry areas.
