Re-examining the role of role models in today's society

Role models of today, all I can do is laugh at that statement. Honestly who are the role models of today? Britney Spears maybe, in that case of the children who look up to her we find them having unstable relationships partying before they even turn 18 we find them doing things we shouldn't find them doing. Now when you look at the role models of yesteryear we find Astronauts, Firemen, and Police officers all very wonderful well rounded men and women. What our children need to be focusing on is heros not just role models, Is there a difference? Of course there is a role model is someone that can come and go with age and maturity while a hero can last a lifetime. A hero is not just a name they are a face, a name, a legend. When I was growing up I looked up to vetrinarians because they helped animals, which at the time I had many animals. Now a days our children want to become a rockstar, which I am not saying is a bad thing, but being a rockstar now is very unlikly that they will reach that status. Our children what to grow up and get into a gang or into hussling, either way we have mainstreamed these people way to much. While most shows go right to the cons of doing this they must realize that not everyone is going to interpret what they are trying to get across the right way. Some of those children did not grow up in the best places and see the gang as family,or in other words a stable part in their life. Now to those children who look up to a doctor, a fireman, an artist they have been found in the middle class, a class that works for what they have and they take nothing for granted. Those kids are taught by their role models that they do need to work and work hard to get anywhere, a very good lesson to learn. Then there is Paris Hilton coming in the picture or those teens on My Super Sweet 16 who are concidered upper class. Now the upper class has pros and cons just like everyother class. They teach kids that anything is possible, That if they work hard maybe they will be there one day. Now I seen all the rich famous people when I was little like everyone else, and like everyone else I wanted a life like that. Sadly that won't be happening anytime soon. A let down yes but when I look back I am proud at how far I have come and that's what fuels me to go out everyday and treat it like it could change my whole life.

Pros and cons, cons and pros. Who are we to say who is a good role model or who is a good hero, or who is not? That the thing no one can say who
