Writing for Helium has a number of benefits. Some of the benefits are gaining exposure for articles written, connecting with other writers around the world, and receiving constructive criticism on personal writing. One additional benefit is the ability to create some additional income from writing.

Long Term Residuals

Understand that Helium is a business and operates like a business. Helium creates revenue through advertisements and web traffic flow to the site. Each time someone views an article they are also viewing web advertisements. These advertisers pay Helium based on the number of views they receive through the various articles viewed each day.

Helium offers payment to those who post articles on a long-term basis. Helium only asks for members to rate articles of other members in return. The rates for these residual payments are connected, to the number of times the article is viewed and the amount of advertising that is connected with the article.

Monthly Bonuses

Helium has increased the amount of money earned by their writers through their bonuses. Helium offers additional money as bonuses for various aspects of writing. There are three bonuses that Helium has each month. These bonuses are the Empty Title Bonus, the Rating Bonus, and the Upfront Payment bonus.

Helium offers a special $1 bonus for each article that fills a specific void in the Helium database. One way to increase income on Helium is to write specifically for those empty article titles. Limitations on the bonuses do apply, please see the list of limitations listed below.

The Helium upfront payments are based on the number of writing stars that a person gains through the peer article rating system. The upfront payments increase based on the number of writing stars that you receive. One star gains fifty cents per article written, two stars gains one dollar per article written, three stars is $1.50 per article, four stars is $2.00 per article and five stars is $2.50 per new article.

Helium places channels that are less profitable in a non-bonus status. These channels do not offer upfront payments or additional bonuses. The following channels are excluded from upfront payment and empty article bonus

Each month offers a five star rating bonus. Each member of Helium that maintains five rating stars will gain a $3 bonus payment at the end of the month

Contests and Marketplace

Each week there are a series of writing contests. The contests are in five different channels with twenty article topics per channel. The contest scores are based on the rankings of your articles. The Helium Marketplace is a listing of various articles that offer specific payment based on article length and quality. Usually only the top submissions for the article are selected for payment.

There are a number of simple ways to increase the possibility and opportunity to make additional money on Helium. Remember to take advantage of these bonuses and ways to earn when writing and posting articles.
