Author's note: This article was originally published under 'Determining if you're happy'.
When you are happy with yourself you are more likely to be happy with God and/or have happy relationships. Right?
I believe the above statement is accurate for most people if not all.
So are you happy with who you are? If not, why?
Is it something painful that happened in the past that you blame yourself for? I might be incapable of agreeing that you should be forgiven but I know we have the God who forgives no matter how bad it is. Or at least consider the concept of having your Creator powerful enough to wipe away what you blame yourself for.
So are you happy with who you are? If not, why?
Because I am not the best in all areas of my life. Or because I am not the best in any area of my life. This makes me a nobody.
If a person can disbelieve in the Creator of the world that is in front of their eyes, how about disbelieving the previous statement?
Because why is self image represented by our grades and achievements? Why is self-esteem determined by whether we are the top man or woman at our job? Why is our happiness determined by one's "grades" in the areas of family life, in education studies, in popularity and/or in the workplace?
I think this is a lesson trained in me since I was born. It is how the world runs, its system.
Its system will not determine my happiness because I think achievements are not the primary determining factor for being happy with my life.
I choose to believe God loves me no matter what. Is this statement of my belief a clutch for my "weakness"?
I think it is intelligence instead because I choose to be a person who is happy with my life for I know people who love me. I am somebody. I have parents who provide my daily needs and love, I have a younger brother who laughs with me and loves me, a trusted best friend to confide anything and everything with, a church family who are my loving community and a relationship with my Creator; God who will never forsake me (Hebrews 13:5). I am fortunate. These are the primary determining factors of my happiness, as they should be.
