of children today are obese as they sit playing computer games while munching on chips and chocolate. Exercise conjures up a sweating session in the gym or a 10K marathon. But to get the benefit of exercise requires the simple act of going out for a walk. Walking 20 minutes three times a week can get the heart pumping and circulating blood to where it is needed the most.
We were all made to be active and productive throughout the day. Exercise helps to burn off calories and makes us feel good about ourselves. It does not require setting aside a specific time to do. It can be done at any time day or night. Even if you're stuck in an office cubicle, you can stretch muscles and lift leg weights. Rather than the elevator, you can take the stairs. A walk around a city block does more good during the noon hour than gorging on hamburgers and fries.
3) Habits: We develop them through the years as they are a convenient way to bring order into life and saves us time and energy. Unfortunately, habits such as smoking only add chemicals that interfere with the body's natural ability to balance itself. The body can cure itself of many diseases if it is left in a healthy state. But smoking, drinking and a polluted environment serves to weaken it and makes the body vulnerable to disease and infection.
One of the best ways to lose weight is simply to quit smoking, moderate drinking habits and cut down on the stress that afflicts so many people. Most people never take the time to simply relax and be appreciative of what they have. They constantly want more and strive beyond reason to get it. While it is human nature to always improve circumstances, your body needs time out to relax and regenerate itself. Sleep is vitally important for regeneration. All it takes is some discipline to take that first step to health. But once you make that start it will become easier to stay with your new change of lifestyle until it becomes a permanent habit. The rewards are better health and weight loss that will never come back.
