The media became a bumbling bunch of hysterics as Tax Day Wednesday came and went. Contrary to popular thought, they weren't so irked about writing a check to the government. After all, they're liberals, and they're exempt. (Didn't you get the Geitner memo?) For it was a patriot protest, a nationwide tea party, centered on defending America's core principles that inspired many a liberal to raise yet a different finger. The tea parties were doomed from the very beginning because they failed to line up with the guidelines established by the mainstream media. Because the demonstration was neither attended by a gay man nor Cindy Sheehan, it was both ignored and ridiculed on every news outlet with the exception being Fox. According to many liberals, one could sense a racist vibe reverberating throughout each crowd. ("Oh and did I mention Barack Obama's black?") Which brings up another issue: Those who attend a conservative rally that's not identical to the Huckstable household are unjustly stereotyped as white supremacist, cream-in-their coffee drinkers. Liberal actress and comedienne, Janeane Garofalo, referred to the tea parties and commented, "This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up. That is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks."
It's worth comparing the media-approved protests of the past with the blacklisted tea party and its aftermath.
According to the Spokesman Review, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) staged a protest which touched the liberal heart. "A figure model in her spare time, Julie Kelton, stripped down to her underwear, donned pasties and placed a massive fake bloody animal claw gash on her back. This was PETA's way of showing how they believe circus animals are shackled and beaten by their charges." (Too bad the stripper was a woman! Chris Matthews almost felt a tingle run up his leg.) But instead of condemning this indecent exposure in the name of an insane cause, the media continues to give free publicity to these fur detesting demonstrators.
The series of unfortunate events that plague liberal protests has become sadly predictable. And often times the irony both eludes and includes the media. Here's a probable case in point: The breath of a CNN cameraman is naturally warmer than the zero degree temperature at a global warming rally and therefore condensates on the camera lens obscuring a clear shot of Mr. Gore whose teeth are chattering and body shivering. May I ask: why we continue to listen to these guys?
Nowadays anything is possible! Stay tuned for when the leader of the feminist movement reveals that he is not a she. Oh the irony!
The nationwide event last Wednesday, unlike the usual liberal protest, stood upon principle. An estimated two hundred thousand law-abiding (and clothed) citizens rightfully protested the unprecedented growth of spending and taxation begun under George Bush and amplified under Barack Obama.
But because it was centered upon the people, not on any politician or pundit, the media became disinterested with this petty pinky-raisin' demonstration.
