accessories, and other merchandise. The film portrays Buy N' Large as the father of the people, though they themselves are the major contributors for the state the planet is in. Humans leave the earth on board a space ship that belongs to Buy N' Large. On board this ship, the only providers are of course Buy N' Large. So education, food, transportation, recreation, and whatever else people depend on is provided only by one company.
The shock doctrine idea requires a cataclysmic event to send people into disarray. The action of preying upon this disarray is a link to tyranny. A tyrant has many definitions, yet one of the more prominent is the tyrant acts according to its own will to govern people will total control. Consider the captain's aid robot, Auto. Auto's name reflects his job: auto-control. This robot is the indirect form of a tyrant. He simply works behind the scenes to make sure everything goes according to his plans, while letting the captain take the visual position of leader. Once the captain sees it necessary to return to earth, Auto repels the idea and eventually resorts to force to keep the captain from exercising his assumed rights as the ship's leader. Wall-E helps the captain regain control of the ship and overcome the rule of Auto. Thus this film shows the need for stagnant people to free themselves of routine and tyrannical ruling of a monopolistic corporation.
