Reflections: When you love Mr. Wrong

How can you be certain that he is Mr. Wrong?  Primarily, if he is cheating on you, you can be sure that he is the wrong guy in your life. There is nothing more humiliating and degrading for a woman than to be cheated upon.   It is a shameful and confidence shattering experience that no woman deserves to be in.  Yet, to decide to keep loving Mr. Wrong in spite of his betrayal means to decide to hurt yourself more in the process.   It is a defeatist tendency and your emotional well-being and physical health is likely to suffer as a result. On the other hand, Mr. Wrong is already busy chasing another girl.  Thus, get rid of your neurotic tendency to love Mr. Wrong now unless you want to experience more pain in the future.

Here is advice on how you should proceed.

1. Imagine loosing a loved one

Imagine a scenario that somebody really dear to you, like your father or your mother, is on their death bed.   What would you do in this instance?  Would you still be thinking about Mr. Wrong?  Probably not as your priority would be to spend time with you mother or father.

2. Find other venues to streamline your energy towards

Try and empathize for a moment with those people who never loved or never had the opportunity to love somebody.  There is no way to coerce anybody into loving you.  Love knows no force.  You can only work on becoming a more loving person.   Offer your love to an innocent child or an older person who is lonely.   It'll help distract you from thinking about Mr. Wrong.

3. Join a support group

Know that you are not alone in this.  Don't you know somebody more unfortunate than you are in your surrounding?  There are other people that are hurting over previous relationships that have gone wrong.   In fact, they may be living in your close vicinity.  Some of them may be your friends perhaps.  Get together with them and take the time to share your experience.

4. Take good care of yourself

Go out and do something fun.  Make yourself happy and demonstrate to everybody that you can get by just fine without Mr. Wrong.  You are more likely to attract a new and deserving guy if you are happy and enjoying yourself.  And then when the right guy comes along, Mr. Wrong will not even enter or cross your mind.
