The importance of spoken parental love

Our children are the greatest gifts that life bestows upon us. The love a parent has for a child is an overwhelming and limitless emotion. It is unconditional, everlasting, and pure. It is for this reason that it is far beyond merely important that we speak our love to our children often and fully. They deserve to be completely aware of our feelings for them, and it is essential for both ourselves and our children that we do not hold back in the expression of the deep affection we hold in our hearts for them.

We often accomplish more than we are aware of when we vocalize our love to our children. Their self-esteem is raised, they obtain a sense of security, and they are comforted beyond measure. Also, to know that they are loved results in happy and joy-filled children. They become safe in the knowledge that, no matter how cruel the outside world may be at times, there remains a constant supply of love from their parents that provides a safe haven from the difficulties of life. It is also important to realize that our love is the primary and most beneficial need that our children have. Of course we provide them with food, shelter, and clothing, yet without love, even the provision of these basic needs seems to be missing a critical ingredient.

The act of conveying our love to our children through the spoken word also benefits us as parents. Parenting is the most fulfilling job on earth, and we become even better parents when we teach our children the significance of the expression of heartfelt emotions. They, in turn, learn how to pronounce their love for others, thus allowing the cycle of spoken love to continue. The easiest people in the world to say "I love you" to are our children. Our love for them is distinctive, natural, and pure, and we should take every opportunity to express it. There is absolutely no such thing as saying it too much or too often, for it only serves to benefit.

Love is one of the strongest and most powerful emotions we can feel. Love is meant to be shared, and the ability to love another makes us healthy, happy, and whole people. Children soak up love much in the way a sponge soaks up liquid. It is absorbed into their hearts, minds, and souls, and improves their view of the world in which they live. Love causes them to become individuals who contribute positively to their families, and often, society as a whole.
