I love you. Three seemingly tiny words that, when brought together, possess immeasurable powers and abilities. The power to heal, to uplift, to renew, and to comfort. The ability to calm, instill hope, and warm the heart. Limitless possibilities exist when we speak these monumentally important words. Love, as an emotion, is frequently difficult to fully define and explain, yet the phrase "I love you" is able to convey so much in so few words.
We accomplish more than we realize when we tell others that we love them. The phrase brings with it a sense of security, well-being, and stability. Our loved ones realize how important and special they are to us, and, in turn, feel wonderful because they know that they are entitled to and worthy of the gift of love. This happens much in the same manner that our own hearts swell with the knowledge that there are individuals in this world who love us as well. Love is a gift that is meant to be shared, and speaking words of love is essential to that end.
There are some who may argue that actions speak louder than words when it comes to the subject of expressing love for another. However, without the words, the actions can hold little meaning. It is relatively easy to perform certain mandatory behaviors to show someone that we love them. The process of saying the actual words often comes with greater difficulty due to the power the words hold. They are intense in their meaning and the strength of the emotions behind them. "I love you" speaks volumes although it may be spoken in whispers.
It is more than merely important to say "I love you" as often as possible. It is indispensable. Life is short, or life is long, but in either case, life would be lacking without those words. We should tell the people in our lives that they are precious and dear to us as often as possible. Our children, our parents, our family members, and friends appreciate those three little words more than we could ever imagine. This becomes simple to understand and comprehend when we put ourselves in the position of being the recipient of an honest and true "I love you". The emotions we feel become ones that we desire to share. It requires a great strength of character coupled with a tender and sensitive heart to be able to express love fully and freely. We are blessed beyond measure when we are able to do so, and the rewards are endless and last a lifetime.
