How do we define evil

According to Wikipedia, "Evil, in many cultures, is a broad term used to describe intentional negative moral acts or thoughts that are cruel, unjust, or selfish. Evil is usually contrasted with good, which describes acts that are kind, just, or unselfish. In some religions, evil is an active force, often personified as an entity such as Satan or Ahriman." Evil has alot of religious connotations. Evil is usually associated with Satan, the devil, and according to the Bible evil, was put on this world as a punishment to man for sinning against God. God is the source of all good, the devil is the source of all evil and the world is both good and evil.

Evil is whatever puts fear and loathing in your heart. Evil is whatever scared you as a kid and whatever scares you now. Evil is born of the devil and plagues humanity. I'm being very vague because I can't tell you exactly what evil is. I suppose it is different for everyone. Not everyone can agree with what is the most evil thing in the world, if there is such a thing. I can name a few things that are almost definitely evil. Death is evil. Pain is evil. Destruction is evil. Greed is evil. I'm pretty sure the seven deadly sins are evil. Greed, gluttony, wrath, lust, vanity, sloth, and pride are all evil. Stealing is evil. Evil is whatever you think is the worst thing in the world. But remember, whatever you think is the worst thing in the world might not be the worst thing in the world to another person. Osama Bin Laden might be evil to Americans, but to Jihadists he is a hero. Jesus might be evil to terrorists but to Christians he's the greatest. I think the world needs evil. Without evil, there would be no motivation to fight for the good. Sometimes the only way to know what is good is to know what is evil and then to find the exact opposite of whatever is evil.

Doing evil things and being evil can be fun, too. If everyone was just good and no one was evil, life would be so boring. Doing evil can be very exciting and alluring. It gives you a thrill when you know that you are crossing a line, doing what you're not supposed to do, being "bad." And sometimes you have to do evil things just to get by in life. Everyone lies. I can't imagine a single person who could get through their entire life and not tell a lie. And most people are selfish. Sometimes to make it through life you have to be selfish, especially in America where individuality and selfishness is encouraged. Evil is all in the eye of the beholder
