There was a time, long, long ago
When late night thoughts were all aglow
Full of games, toys and play
With not a single shred of grey.
Then came a time, a few years later
When late night thoughts were even braver
Boldly racing through my mind
Planning all the things I'd find
To do with life, never done before
To turn me into a gal of lore.
Ah, but slowly night thoughts changed again
Dark anxious fears that roam the glen
Of what is now an old woman's mind.
Endlessly I twist and turn to find
A single happy late night thought
That won't send me out of bed, distraught.

"One Minute 'til Midnight"
As I squeeze every second
From my TV or a book,
I think of what the daylight brings
To blast

When late night thoughts were all aglow
Full of games, toys and play
With not a single shred

Peace and quiet quivers in the early hours of Monday morning
While the ash gray clouds in the sky give the night a ghoulish

If I snuggle my face in a certain spot on my pillow, I can
Love, Light, Dark, Hate
These are the things that keep me late
Into the night, inside my head
They creep and crawl
and through
