What most people don't understand about websites is that without traffic, they become useless online brochures that never produce positive ROI (return on investment).
Even do-it-yourself websites require significant time investment which should be divided equally between website production and internet marketing. But what exactly is internet marketing?
Internet marketing is the process from which a website gains or expands exposure through various techniques and proven solutions. While internet marketing is easily defined, it is too often ignored.
Here are the three basic, fool proof steps of internet marketing.
The first critical step in marketing a website is SEO (search engine optimization), a tedious but necessary process which involves strategic keyword placement and management throughout a website. Basically, the more variations of relevant keywords on a website, the more likely it is this website will be indexed by search engines resulting in a maximum flow of relevant traffic.
The second step is of utmost importance and referred to as SES (search engine submission). This process involves inviting search engines to visit a website and index it according to keywords found throughout the webpages of the site.
The third step is link building. Since most search engines are now awarding higher ranking scores to popular websites, link building is a must. Link building involves strategic partnerships between websites which is beneficial to both organizations. In plain English, search engines prefer website that are link to a lot. While link building requires little or no experience, it is not to be taken lightly since major search engines rely on link popularity to rank competitive websites.
A pretty website is nice. A pretty website with 400,000 unique visitors per day is REALLY nice. Get the point?
