Recipes: Fruit smoothies

There's no point to fruit! All my life this was what I've said. It's not that I don't like fruit, I just never really picked eating fruit over eating something salty. I guess I never really had a sweet tooth as candy and desserts never really interested me. Well several months ago in my effort to increase my fitness level as well as lower my cholesterol, I decided to try to incorporate some fruit into my diet.

After going with the apple or some berries as a midday snack route, I found that the fruit was just not interesting me. Then I discovered a juice in the refrigerated juice section when I was grocery shopping one day. It's made by Minute Maid and it's a pomegranate blueberry flavor.

I had recently heard that both of these fruits were supposed to be very healthy for you so I thought I'd try it. There is Omega-3 and DHA in there as well. Well it's really great tasting. I was getting a little bored with just the juice as a snack and wondered how to improve on it.

I remembered having some frozen peaches that didn't really do anything for me so I thought well maybe I'll just blend them into the juice. I also had some frozen strawberries too so I added them as well. It was really tasty!

It did seem to be lacking a little something so I added a little Splenda to it. That did the trick. I have tried all kinds of fruit combinations too. I like peaches, blueberries and raspberries the best.

Below I'll give a short and easy recipe and remember you can change up the fruits any way you like. Another idea is to made an extra batch or two and freeze the leftovers in individual serving containers.

This makes a great snack or dessert to eat just as an icy type treat. I hope you try my recipe because I know you'll love it.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups frozen fruit - any combination you like

Minute Maid pomegranate Blueberry juice

Splenda

Put the fruit into the blender and add about a teaspoon of Splenda. Then pour in enough juice to make about 2 cups. Start to blend. Add a little more juice until it gets to your desired thickness. That's it! Easy as can be.

Enjoy!
