Chocolate Jesus for Easter: Blessing or blasphemy?

Wow, this is pretty amazing. This takes communion to a whole new level. I mean you'd be eating Christ but it would actually look like Him and taste like the sweet salvation that you'd be receiving for taking the sacrament. Think about it, not only would you be taking Jesus into your heart and your stomach. The only way I can see this getting out of hand is if it becomes commercialized. Because then you'll have life size Jesus Bunnies that are way to big for you to eat in one sitting but no one wants to let the Lord down so they'd have a guilt trip and that's really not what religion should be about.

It should be about getting some quiet satisfaction instead of some big show of who has the biggest Jesus in their Easter basket. Also, I can see this going wrong if the candy companies try to get too creative with it. I like my Jesus simple and solitary. I don't want a chocolate nativity set, that's only gonna melt or taste bad after the Advent season is over and I've left it sitting on my table all month. You're also gonna end up with chocolate Jesus with different fillings and it's anybodies guess as to whether Jesus was filled with creme or caramel. It's too complicated and everyone knows that Jesus was a fan of coconut filling anyway, it was the Apostles that loved creme and caramel and tried to distort things so it seemed like Jesus loved them more than He did. This seems to me like a well intended idea but when you really examine it there's so many places that you could go wrong and upset and offend people. Best bet is to keep it simple and stick to chocolate covered eggs. Everybody loves them like everybody loves Jesus and He would have wanted peace on the day that we celebrate His Ascension.

Another interesting idea that has just popped into my head is chocolate crosses. This way you can have the symbol of Christ without having to get into all the senseless quibbling about how to dress Him up so that he tastes good but still looks classy. Or better yet, chocolate fish or lamb since both are symbolic of Christ as well. There's so many different ways to go on this one that it's a shame that this brilliant idea has been hung up on whether it's blasphemy or a blessing. If everyone stopped to worry about that all the time think about how boring their lives would be. I mean shouldn't you be living your life the way you want and then sorting out the rest with God when you have spare time, say on your death bed for example. Or even before that on your regular bed each night. You shouldn't have to worry about which Chocolate Christ you want or should have. To make matters simple I say we declare a pastry pontiff who will tell us what Jesus would have wanted, saving us the trouble of having to figure this complex chocolate selection business.

So, in summary Chocolate Eggs not Chocolate Jesus, it's what Jesus would have done.
