Our country needs to start saving money don't you think? I suggest we start with the benefits system. Perhaps somebody could explain to me why we pay out job seekers allowance over a prolonged period of time, or even at all to people that obviously do not want to work.
There are so many people that get paid over and over again because they cannot be bothered to work. They have excuse after excuse but in fact there is no excuse as there is plenty of work out there, I suggest instead of paying these people to sit at home and do nothing or go to the pub and drink our money away that we should make them work for their money. If they cannot get a job, then why can we not give them a job for the same money?
Imagine this, everybody is given 1 week job seekers allowance whilst they try to find a job. If they do not find a job then the following Monday they should be placed in one doing for example:
Refuse collection
Cleaning listed buildings
Removing graffiti
Public gardens maintenance
Litter Picking
Town / city improvement schemes i.e. chewing gum removal, weeding, Hedge cutting, sign cleaning
Public property window cleaning
Government buildings cleaning programme
All of the above will save money that we seem to be paying out twice for. People say they cannot find work when they can. If they want money then they should earn it. The government would not have to pay for cleaners, as the people on their jobseekers allowance will do the job until they find the job they want. These people can be utilised in areas that we cannot afford to do anything about. We will have a cleaner, more productive country. Of course there is another option, these people that are being paid Job seekers can be given to small businesses that are getting off the ground or trying to move forward to assist them. We all know when trying to get a business off the ground there is a hundred and one things you need to do. These people can help, from typing letters to making telephone calls, to cleaning, filling, and research. There is a whole host of jobs they can do which can be done without any training or intensive training needed and it will make all the difference to the business that cannot afford staff and it will create a ripple effect as les businesses will go bankrupt and the economy would be stronger. Unemployment will fall rapidly as the people on Job seekers will either stop claiming their allowance or actually find a job or indeed they might just carry on exactly how
