The only Gloucester I know is Gloucester, England and they do have the best pub food in the United Kingdom!

Gloucester is a wonderful old world city about 120 miles southwest of London, and their New Inn was built in 1426, so where is the Old Inn? Moving along to food which is such a treat that picking out the best may be disrespectful and rude.

I think I will start with the least and work through the menu and give the best last.

The worse meal I had in a pub was a Nacho chips plate. Very little cheese and hardly any sour cream. The next meal you should not order in a pub in Gloucester is probably a Hamburger. They have no clue about lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, mustard, ketchup, and onions. They give you a plain piece of meat that tastes like the package it came out of and a bun.

Go to McDonald's for a hamburger not a pub anywhere in England. I guess I can now share some of the better eats in a pub in Gloucester.

Beef, chicken or lamb plates are nice on a cloudy day in Gloucester and you will get better value for money than burgers and tacos.

Steak and kidney pie with chips goes a long way when you are out shopping in Gloucester and need some refreshment. Don't forget chips are fries and crisps are chips.

Now there is another dish that's available in pubs that I had to adjust to and it's Curry chicken or beef. If you haven't had good curry then you will need to try it slowly and find your place in the curry world. My husband makes a mean chicken curry that will knock the hair off your tongue in a nice way.

The British eat curry on lots of other food, and that takes some getting used to, because curry doesn't look appealing. It actually looks like old food that couldn't stay in someone's stomach.

Thinking about curry reminds me of another funny food to put curry on which is a Jacket Potato, which is a baked potato. In Gloucester you will find all sorts of things on a jacket potato, such as tuna salad, chili, and lots of curry.

It's time for the two top foods in a Gloucester pub and that is Fish and Chips or Bangers, mash and peas.

Oh now this is the food that gives a pub it's character and brings the Brits in to eat on day of the week.

Everyone knows what fish and chips are, but bangers are sausage and mash is mashed potatoes with peas.

I don't care for it myself but my British husband loves bangers and mash! So there you have it the best and worse pub foods in Gloucester, but don't take my word go there and be genuinely surprised.
