Of course it doesn't - it never has.

Irrespective of your religious belief, there has never been a clarion call to arms coming from either the Christian Bible, the Koran or whatever fairy story you've grown up believing.

To deliberately scatter body parts of innocent people you have never met, for an objective which you have never never made clear, has nothing to do with religion. It's called murder.

Terrorism is about POWER; it's about manipulation - its about suppression. Again, it has nothing to do with religion.

I have lived in the so-called United Kingdom for over fifty years. Take twenty of my years, say, between 1970 and 1990, and that was a period when everyone in England lived in fear of the IRA bomb. Many thousands of people, of all religious denominations were slaughtered indiscriminately in the name of religion. Meanwhile, over in the United States Senator Kennedy with his third and fourth Irish generation Bostonian chums were openly fund-raising for the Republican 'cause' to ensure that more innocent English children were being blown to bits during the period I mention.

His brother would be have been so proud!

The point I'm making is this: Religion is the EXCUSE for terrorism - it's not the reason why.

Your modern-day Taliban merchant doesn't care too much about his Koran, just like most people reading this pay scant regard to the teachings of the Bible, or whatever. Johnny Taliban wants to blow us all up because he's bored and jealous. He has nothing else to do. You live in a cave or a mud hut then you turn to whatever religion grabs your fancy, because you're bored and you behave like a trapped animal. 'Twas ever thus.

So there we have Johnny Taliban, alone in his cave, no doubt scratching his obligatory, putrid grey beard as he sends his son off to the nearest Israeli Bus Station with dynamite attached to his body with the promise of umpteen 'virgins' in 'paradise'. "Pull the cord son - and kill all the 'infidels' - you will be rewarded".

YOU WHAT?!

But of course Mr Taliban doesn't offer his own services.

What's that all about? Religion?....... you're having a laugh!

It's the 'Western' way of life terrorists want to destroy, and then adopt it for themselves...religion doesn't come into it.

Many years ago I was being lectured on the evils of the world and this lady, in exasperation, finished by saying, "Jesus Christ! If the God-damned Christians cant get it right - then who the hell can?"

And that is quoted verbatim, because that is exactly what my Sunday School teacher once told me. I was nine years old at the time!

And I doubt very much if Mrs Butterworth went on to terrorise people in the name of her 'religion'.
