How to plan an Easter egg hunt

Whether it's blue skies and balmy weather, pouring rain or snow on the ground, kids of all ages expect an Easter egg hunt on Easter. Have fun playing the Easter Bunny with these tips and ideas for how to plan an Easter egg hunt. You'll have it all together in no time for a fun and safe egg hunt to delight the youngsters.

*Check The Weather

The first step for planning an Easter egg hunt is to check your local weather report. If there's inclement weather in the forecast, you will need to find a house or building to hold the crowd of Easter egg hunters. If, the forecast is for blue skies, find a yard or other outdoor space to hold the event. You can have a fun egg hunt even in the snow!

*Set Some Boundaries

Once, you have decided where the Easter egg hunt will be held, set the boundaries for where eggs may be hidden and searched for keeping safety in mind for all ages. It might even be a good idea to have an area only for very small children, with the eggs hidden in plain sight.

*Find Some Helpers

Make a list of who will attend and try to ascertain how many will be hunting eggs. From those attending who do not plan to hunt Easter eggs, choose helpers to prepare and color the eggs as well as some to hide them. Some people like to use boiled or candy eggs instead of plastic eggs and that's fine as long as you remember to follow safety guidelines for them.

*Make A Map And Count The Eggs

Draw a map of the area and make a copy for each person who will be hiding the eggs. Count the eggs, so you will know when they have all been found and have the hiders mark on the map where they hide each egg so, they will all be found during the Easter egg hunt and not months later.

*Have Some Prize Eggs

Hide some prize eggs in both easy and hard places. You can also have prizes for those who find the most eggs, the most eggs of a certain color and the last egg found. Prizes don't need to be elaborate; they can be money, candy, gift certificates to a fast food restaurant or small toys

*Make Perfect Hard-Boiled Eggs

Place eggs in a non-aluminum pot and cover with cold water. Cover the pot and bring to a hard boil. Remove the pot from the heat allow to stand for about 10-15 minutes. Carefully remove the eggs from the hot water and place in a cold bath with some ice cubes and allow to cool completely before proceeding with the dying method of your choice.

With these easy tips and ideas for how to plan an Easter egg hunt, you won't miss any important steps and everyone is sure to have a great time regardless of the weather.
