Which diets work - and which ones fail?

back if you gained weight, think of how different these businesses would be set up. Or not set up at all.




As a child you may have heard: eat right, exercise, get plenty of rest and drink water. Now, you don't remember how to eat right even though you were taught the food pyramid in grade school because you're sitting in a restaurant being bombarded by delicious, mouth watering foods which tantalize all your senses. Exercising is a personal choice these days. Getting plenty of sleep means missing out on everything there is to do in life today including making money. Water has been replaced by the beverage industry.




The social comment that is in the movie WALL-e is profound: hover chairs, liquid foods sipped through a straw and atrophy of the body. It's an animated movie about the future but it is derived from how our world is today.




We have developed a taste and craving for processed foods much like cigarette smokers crave nicotine. We are addicted to unhealthy foods.
We become emotionally deprived so we look for the uplifting piece of chocolate cheesecake to make us feel better. The obesity and overweight population that is seen in today's society is proof that "diets" don't work. Going back to the basics will work: Eat right. Exercise everyday. Get plenty of rest. Drink lots of water.
