PLANNING A BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR YOUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILD: THE PRINCESS PARTY
Every little girl dreams of being a princess, and to her parents, she already is one. So for her birthday why not treat her highness to a party fit for royalty?
The first step in preparing for the royal event is invitations. You may be able to purchase princess theme invitations at your local party supplies store, dollar stores, or online. There are also several web sites which allow you to customize your own invitations and print them for free such as www.dltk-kids.com which offers great, and free, printable party invitations in a wide variety of themes. Or, with a little creativity and imagination, you can make your own. A royal creed invitation is simple and easy to do. Using plain pink computer paper and glittery gel pens simply write your own invites. Since it is a royal event be sure to write accordingly. For example:"Princess Sarah has requested your presence at her castle on (insert date) as she will celebrate her (insert age) birthday" or "Hear ye, hear ye. Calling all fair maidens and noble knights. Your presence is requested at a 7th Birthday honoring Sarah " followed by the details of the event such as where and when. When the written part of the invitation has been completed roll it and tie with ribbon to resemble a royal creed. For a little extra pizzaz you can add glitter, beads, craft stones or other embellishments to the invitations.
Once the invitations have all been delivered it is time for decorations! A well decorated party area is always a good start to a fun and unique birthday party. A basic requirement for a princess party is lots of balloons in different shades of pink. Add some streamers cascading from the ceiling and a couple of pretty birthday banners and you have yourself a beautiful party area for your little princess. Of course you don't have to stop there. If you wish you can add scene setters to the walls which can be purchased at party supplies stores or online, or you can make your own using cardboard, poster paper, and paints to make a wall sized castle, or pink vinyl table cloths to make beautiful arches.
Every princess needs a throne and how excited will yours be to find you have created one of her very own! This is much easier to do than you might think. All you will need to get started is a chair, lots of cardboard, and paint. Using a large cardboard box that will fit over the seat, sides and front of the chair, remove one side of the box and
