When I was a little girl we did not have television in our house we listened to the radio. Even this was very strict as we were only allowed to listen to children`s hour at tea time.
On Sundays there was a programme called The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and two children had travelled back in time to see them. There was one wonder each week and as the children arrived at their destination there was an adventure waiting for them. I don`t really remember a lot of the narrative just the excitement that each wonder created in my mind. I must have been about six.
The other thing that I remember was that the programme on a Sunday and the meal was different than weekday tea times. We usually had salad with bread and butter, tinned fruit with evaporated milk and a home made cake to end. Often it would be homemade chocolate cake with white butter cream and icing sugar on the top.
Everytime that I eat chocolate cake now I remember the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
