The Aisle of Memories
She whispered softly, it’s now time for us!
I stood beside her, totally helpless.
Your tux looks great Dad, so glad you're here!
With a feeble smile, I hid every tear.
My mind was a blur with memories past
where did her childhood go so fast?
It was just yesterday, her on my knee
smiling and giggling, just turning three.
Jumping in puddles and making a mess
being a princess in her Birthday dress.
Tea parties for bear with me as her guest
minding my manners in all the funfest.
Reading her stories when bedtime was near
always her hero when she had a fear.
With hugs and kisses, as warm as could be
she vowed someday she’d marry me.
She’s now all grown, soon another’s wife
but I loved her first, this child in my life.
With dark raven hair and a radiant glow
how much I love her, will she ever know?
Again she whispered, are you ready to go?
Lead with your left and don’t go too slow.
I’m so happy you’re here, walking this aisle
you look so sad Dad, put on a smile.
I mustered a smile, held back my sad tears
thanked God for all of our wonderful years,
then walked down the aisle and gave her away.
My beautiful daughter got married today.

The Aisle of Memories
Baby food, infant seats,
She's so fragile, she's so petite.
She has no teeth, just a gummy smile.
It's the little things that
My little girl is getting married today
Didn't I just bring her home from the hospital
Seems like yesterday...
Today
Your wedding, your princess dreams made real
My little girl dressing up as a bride for Halloween
You're getting married?
It

A spiritual
Feeling
Sits in the
Hearts of parents
With trembles
Of letting go
A beautiful
Fruit of life
Held so
Delicately
