"Go Placidly Amid The Noise And Haste, And Remember What Peace There May Be In Silence"

If that quote sounds familiar to you, you might be a hippie.
It is the opening line from the classic Poem "Desiderata" by Max Ehrmann. Though it was written in the 1920's the message of the poem is decidedly, peace, love, and flower-power circa 1968. With phrases like, "You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars". It became one of the most important pomes of the 1960's, making it's way into communes, and flower children's homes everywhere. Although it did have a great impact in the 60's; "Desiderata" is much more than a hippie anthem. It is a call to arms to anyone who is Idealistic, and who thinks of the world as a mystery unfolding before their very eyes. It's also a pretty good guideline for eternal optimism. Which is why it continues to be one of my all time favorite poems to read. And, if you've never read...You're missing out on something great.
