'One man's better is another man's worst' is true as applied to every area of life except that of religion. In fact it is not a question of whether one religion is better than another but rather it is a question of which religion is the best. It is indisputable that one religion is best while all others are miserable failures. The best religion being the true religion as defined by the only true and living God. A house divided against itself cannot stand. The ultimate judgment of the one true system of religion is within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Almighty Creator. Everything else is mere opinion and possible evil surmising. Designating truth from error is within God's sole prerogative and He has not delegated that authority to any other.
And for good reason. God's moral authority to grant the gift of eternal life is under severe attack. Religion is designed to bring humanity to a right relationship with the Creator so that each person may stand before the final judgment seat with a smile on his or her face. God endowed humanity with minds to seek after Him because we humans literally have nothing to do with bringing ourselves into existence. In fact, we are alive for several years before we even realize that there is life and death. We humans can't give ourselves mortal life let alone immortality.
Plus, we have been forewarned in the Holy Bible that many false prophets (i.e teachers, preachers, etc.) have gone out into the world with one goal in mind; to deceive, if possible, the very elect! This warning is plainly given because of the vulnerability of the human species to said deceptions and falsehoods. In other words, there are false religions and but for the intervention of a merciful and kind Deliverer, who purposefully and graciously put enmity between us and the father of lies, we all would be deceived and oblivious to the danger until it was too late.
Thus, for purposes of deciding which religion is the best, for all practical and spiritual purposes, it is critical that each individual understand the bottom-line of religious experience. That is, do the teachings, doctrines and practices of a particular religion square with the Master's Plan that provides an absolute remedy for the greatest need of humanity, resurrection power over death and the grave? In other words, does this religion provide adequate assurances of the reward of everlasting life consistent with, 1) the hope of eternal life within each of us and, 2) the unadulterated word of God?
The challenge for humanity to avoid the prevailing deceptions of the many false religions is, in a word, 'really real'. We live in a dumbed down society that no longer values reading, writing and reasoning skills; the need to avoid deception is itself almost universally unperceived or misperceived. Coupled with humanity's apparent insatiable thirst for pleasure seeking, power, and prestige, many sincere seekers after God are lured away from the best, the one true system of religious faith. Unfortunately, many are in pursuit of God based upon shallow pseudo-religious standards such as charming personalities, good music, comfortable pews, dismissal by noon, a recreational facility and so on.
