Hanuman Chalisa is considered to be one of the greatest prayers ever known. It is the narration of the great physical, mental and spiritual powers of Shri Hanuman. He is the incarnation of Lord Shiva, who is the third person of the Trinity. It was the design and purpose of God for Lord Shiva, to manifest Himself in the form of Shri Hanuman. This was to fulfill the purpose of rescuing the Goddess Sita from the clutches of Ravana, the demon king. Sita is the incarnation of the Goddess Lakshmi, who is married to Lord Rama.
The Hanuman Chalisa was written by Goswami Tulsidas. By singing the praises of Shri Hanuman, one is able to overcome many obstacles. When Hanuman was only a child, He swallowed the sun from a distance of sixteen thousand miles. He lifted the mountain containing the herb to save the life of Lakshman, Rama's brother. Hanuman was filled with compassion for Lord Rama, when Sita was abducted by Ravana and taken to Lanka. He is the most ardent devotee of Lord Rama, the manifestation of Lord Vishnu, who is the second person of the Trinity. His only wish is to fulfill Lord Rama's every request.
One of the reasons that Hanuman had to be born in the form of a monkey was to enlarge Himself and fly across the ocean to find Sita. God has the power to take any form He pleases to accomplish His work. He took Lord Rama's ring in His mouth across the ocean to comfort Sita. In return He burnt down Lanka to save Her from the demon king, Ravana. This is the great power and incomparable strength of Shri Hanuman. He shows the extraordinary power of God to move mountains, in order to rescue Sita. The impossible becomes possible.
When the Hanuman Chalisa is sung anywhere in the world, it is narrating the great glory about this incarnation of God. This Chalisa is divided into many verses. Every verse recited and chanted has the power to remove difficulties from our lives. Singing the first verse, "Jai Hanuman gyaan gyun saagar" will give you knowledge. The third verse, "Mahabeer bikrama bajarangi" will remove the bad company of family and friends from your life. The following verses have the power to help you reach your goals, drive away evil spirits, give you health and the ability to conquer evil forces in your life.
The more this Chalisa is recited, the more beneficial it becomes to anyone. It praises the greatness of Hanuman. It has the power to remove suffering and sins, heal sicknesses, give happiness and rid you of all calamities. Lord Shiva testifies that one attains perfection by reading the Hanuman Chalisa. It can always provide you with strength, knowledge and guidance in your life. It is the story of God and His love for humanity. The story and service of Shri Hanuman is Eternal throughout the whole world.
