Poetry: Race

by Gerald Drueppel

Created on: April 16, 2009

Score Tortoise

sullen seas like ice

gleaming sheen rise spikes

fly right land true

let stupid cupid arrows do

what compels
them then propels

them through imaginary space

distance minus hasty pace

to take and taste the cake

in zero shakes of lamb tails

to understand snail's or turtle's hesitation

both rocket's and rabbit's elation

is all take and no give

as the long dead wait

for the short lived
