Runners are easy people to buy gifts for, because generally they are always in need of running clothes. While running jackets, various layers, caps, and pants make wonderful presents, they tend to be expensive, difficult to buy because of size and style issues and much of the time, runners buy their clothes themselves. Here are ten less expensive gift ideas which most runners will appreciate receiving, and are relatively simple to purchase:
Running Store Gift Certificates: Although a bit boring to purchase, gift certificates to any running store or sporting goods store are always good gifts, because the runner may buy exactly what they need or put it towards their next purchase-and there is always a next purchase. This also takes the guess work out of knowing size, colour and style preferences.
Heart Monitors or Pedometers: While many experienced runners will already have such gadgets, some new runners may not have purchased these types of items for themselves yet. While there is a wide range of technological aids for running, some basic ones can provide the runner with a new instrument to play with.
Water Bottle Packs or Camel Packs: A runner can never have enough of these. Water bottles get old quickly and most runners dislike buying this sort of thing themselves. It will also encourage some runners to stay hydrated and perhaps even run longer.
High Performance Socks: Again, this seems like a very uninteresting gift, but most runners do not spend much money on high performance socks with dry-fit material; such a purchase seems extravagant, given how sweaty and old socks get, and how many pairs runners go through every year, so receiving such a gift will be a real treat for most runners.
Safety Instruments: Whistles, pocket alarms and bear spray make great gifts, particularly for runners who either have not seen the need for such items but should, or beginner runners just starting to figure out all the necessities of running. For this gift, it is a good idea to determine if the runner is a loner or runs in secluded areas and would have use for these types of contraptions.
A Spa or Massage Gift Certificate: This is a no-brainer. Runners of all ages and all abilities will value this gift enormously. In some cases, it might even save the runner from future injury and even encourage some runners to take better care of their bodies.
I Tunes Gift Card: If the runner listens to music, a music gift card is a great idea. Most runners who listen to music go through their play
