I'm young, attractive, friendly, smart, funny, well-adjusted, happy, and SINGLE. I know what you must be thinking....two things. One, there's something wrong with this girl she isn't sharing, like some fear of commitment or fungal toe growth or; Two, she's in denial. But I am here to tell you I am not a commitment phobe nor do I have athlete's foot. I have my flaws like any other human being, but I do not have any trouble getting guys. And I am not in denial. Perhaps I'm ignorant to my true desires...but even then I argue that ignorance is bliss..and therefore I am still single and blissfully happy.

The secret to being happy and single is you have to WANT to be single. But who wants to be single? Well, it all depends on how you look at it. Single is merely a state of being and for most, a passing phase. It's like a season. Everyone loves summer, but doesn't winter have its own distinct beauty? Being single is a necessary season in the cycle of finding true lasting love.

Just as life in winter goes on, so too does life as a single goes on. Will we sit and sulk because it is no longer summer? Or will we build snowmen and drink hot chocolate? Will we cry because we are no longer in a relationship? Or will we do dinner at seven with the cute stranger?

Being single is a time to discover more about yourself and to become a better person. You have no commitment to another and so you can devote your time and energy to finding out more about yourself. You invest your time in you...whether it be going to the gym, pursuing your career, saving for a vacation, building stronger relationships with your friends, helping your family; whatever the case, you are the cause. This can be a very liberating and empowering stage in life, especially for women since we so often rely on men to make us happy. When women are single, they learn about other types of love that are just as fulfilling as the kind between a man and woman.

By doing things for yourself and by yourself, you can figure out what you in fact do need from a significant other. Only when you know why you need love and what you want from it can you find it or recognize it when it hits you out of nowhere.

And to be truly happy when you are single, you must trust and believe with all your might that you are worthy of love and that when the time is right, you will meet someone who will be everything you've ever needed and that you'll likewise be that person's dream come true.
