Political corruption is a terrible tragedy of the current day and age. The sad truth of the matter is that when all of us pack it up and move down to the voting polls every four years (or more/less depending on which offices you care to vote for) we are stuck merely voting for the lesser of two evils. I can't speak for the people who were alive during the time of Roosevelt and Kennedy but it seems to me that the pickings for presidents are growing slimmer and slimmer.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the sad fact of the matter is that our political pool for the choice of president isn't us trying to choose between two such things as a lovely field of flowers, or more time in the day to spend with your family. We are stuck trying to pick between a viper and a poison rat, hoping we pick the one that will take longer to kill us. I haven't been alive long enough to truly become a part of history, but I've been alive long enough to talk to those who are. You can ask any man or woman who was alive in the early 60's and they will tell you just how drastically America has changed.
"There used to be some honor in the American legal system," says Charles Hampton, at sixty-two years of age from his front porch. "But now it's all full of scandals and [politicians] trying to get a great big pocketbook out of the situation in office. They don't care for the everyday citizen anymore."
If we are to face the facts, we too must admit that today's America is as Hampton claims. There is no more caring or love for the everyday "little" man in the political office anymore. Now the concern is all about how much money is coming in, and who's getting their greedy grubby hands on it. Now, do not mistake me. The America set up by the constitution, and the presidents as history portrays them are both excellent. The problem is that the government isn't afraid to lie to get what they want.
Of course, while I speak of the offices cruelties in greed and personal gain; the average American is no better in stupidity. Granted, no one is happy with the current president, but who is it that welcomed the president in with open arms? True, yes the electoral college truly picks their president, but they are bound to vote as the people would so I'm going to assume that's not a factor. If we accept that, then we also accept that it is us who calls in the man that we will only grow to hate and despise for his (or eventually her) actions.
America has a corrupt legal system to rule over a bunch of hypocritical morons.
