When you first get the ACT or think about the ACT, it can be extremely intimidating. Not only is it about 4 hours long to take it, but it has a huge impact on your future as far as colleges and scholarships.
For that reason, a lot of people go into the ACT with an extreme case of test anxiety. That, I think, is the biggest reason that a lot of people don't do as well as they otherwise might.
Other things will help improve your ACT test score... you can study your basic English rules. The english section is mostly about knowing where commas go, what colons are, etc. So if you know all of that, you will do well on the English section.
Another thing is to review your basic Geometry functions and Algebra equations. There are some questions from higher math classes, but the majority will be Geometry and Algebra questions. So if you have those down, then you'll do well on the Math.
But the biggest thing, as I mentioned, is just to get relaxed when taking the test. It helps to get a good night's rest before the test so you have at least some amount of sleep. If you can find a way to get your mind off of it, that helps. Just go in there with a positive attitude and belief that you will do your best and not panic, and that will help you improve your score on the ACT test.
Most of all, good luck!
